‘Recent Works’ is Brian’s first solo exhibition in the Netherlands and is a celebration of his 7 years as a full-time artist. The show takes you on a journey of his exploration of time and experience through the layering of paint, colour and texture.
The paintings on display were created during the period 2011 through to 2018. Some of the works being presented were painted in the Netherlands during Brian’s annual residency at Arie Verhoeff’s workshop in the Dutch Polder. While other earlier pieces have been held back from public showing until now.
With its contemporary styling and great spaces for hanging work, the five-star Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is an exciting place for Brian to display his paintings. It can be found in the heart of central Amsterdam and is a known venue for its exhibitions and event conference spaces. The hotel has many event rooms including the Koepelkerk a beautiful domed 17th century former Lutherian church.
A range of guests including collectors, special invitees of the hotel, and friends of the artist attended the opening. They were all kept on their toes with the challenge of following a multiple choice ‘quiz’ taking them through the hotel with questions on the geographical and physical inspiration for each of the works. With the prize being one of Brian’s paintings for whoever was successful in answering all the questions correctly!
For the duration of the show, the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel continues to actively encourage all its visitors and guests to interact with Brian’s art with an art trail that can be followed throughout the venue. All the paintings featured in the exhibition are available for purchase. Feel free to contact Arie Verhoeff based in the Netherlands for more information.
